The TV News Bureau - Spring 2003 Their work
airs weeknights at 7:30 p.m. on UMTV.
That's Channel 72 in Prince George's County; Channel 2 in Montgomery County.
The bureau chief:
Emmy-winning journalist Mark Lodato joined the
faculty in December 2000 from WUSA-TV (CBS Washington), where he worked as
a reporter and anchor. He has more than 10 years of experience in
broadcast journalism: He was as a correspondent for KNXV-TV, the ABC
affiliate in Phoenix, and reported for KOMU-TV, the NBC affiliate in
Columbia, Mo., and WINK-TV, the CBS affiliate in Fort Myers, Fla. Lodato
was an adjunct journalism professor at Arizona State University.
The grad students:
Jennifer Dorr, 24, is covering crime
and justice as well as general assignment stories for Maryland Newsline.
Dorr interned for the Consumer Unit at the NBC affiliate in Washington, D.C.,
from September 1999 to January 2000.
She earned her bachelor's degree in Spanish and women's studies at
Georgetown University in May 2000 and worked as a political media consultant for
Joe Slade White & Co. for two years following graduation. She can be reached at jenndorr@hotmail.com,
Jeff Harvey, 24 is covering the education beat for Maryland
Newsline. As an undergraduate, he attended Oberlin College where he hosted
a radio program, wrote a bi-weekly column and co-founded a sketch comedy

The undergrads:
Danielle Gordon, 21, is a senior
journalism major who will graduate in May. She will cover health and
medicine for Maryland Newsline. Gordon interned at Fox45 in Baltimore
in fall 2001 and currently reports, produces and shoots for Takoma Park

Diana Moon, 21, is a senior
broadcast journalism major from Ellicott City.
She will cover stories on the environment for Maryland Newsline. She has
previously interned at Fox 5 in Washington, D.C. You can reach her at

Laura McHugh, 21, is a senior
journalism major who expects to graduate in May. She will cover
Prince George's County for Maryland Newsline. A native of Philadelphia,
she's worked at the city's WB affiliate, WPHL, and at its NPR station,
WHYY. Last fall, McHugh interned with the Associated Press Broadcast

Diana Schiripa, 22, is a senior journalism major
who expects to graduate in December. She will cover homeland

Ben Shlesinger, 21, of Rockville, will cover Montgomery
County for Maryland Newsline. He has interned for NBC4 and The George
Michael Sports Machine in Washington, D.C. He also interned for the
Washington Wizards, WBIG OLDIES100 and WASH 97.1 WASH-FM. He can be
