GRANTSVILLE - While the rest of the nation grows more diverse, Census Tract 2 in Garrett County remains little changed, with the area around Grantsville posting the highest percentage of white residents in Maryland in the 2000 census. Tract 2 is bounded by the Mason-Dixon Line on the north; Chestnut Ridge Road and New Germany Road on the east; Bittinger Road, Rock Lodge Road and Accident-Bittinger Road on the south; Bear Creek, Garrett Highway and the National Pike on the west.
