COLLEGE PARK, Md - A lantern festival, similar to those celebrated in Germany on St. Martin's Day, has become a fall tradition for many families in and around College Park.
German native Birgit Meade led about 60 parents and children in a session of lantern-making on Sunday, followed by a dusk parade of candle-lit creations outside St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
