Most of the cheerleaders are from Maryland, Virginia and Washington and have danced or cheered locally before. The draw for prospective members, however, isn’t limited to the Washington area.

“We get people from all over,” said Stephanie Jojokian, the Redskins cheerleading director and choreographer. “Some people are from the area, some relocate. We’ve even had members from Japan.”

This year’s team includes members from Korea, Guam and Puerto Rico.
