This Is No Sideshow: The American Dime Museum

Flesh-eating toad from Madagascar

Unusual animals, freaks of nature and hoaxes are among the Dime Museum's attractions. Visitors are greeted by the menacing jaws of this hoax -- a "flesh-eating toad from Madagascar" -- when they enter the Baltimore row house.

Horne and co-proprietor James Taylor charge $5 -- $3 for children -- for admission. For that fee, visitors can see everything from mummified "mermaids" to feathered fish.
