A Place Tattooed in History

Tattoo flash

The museum's attractions include sheets of tattoo "flash," or art. The art is collected from "anyplace you can get your hands on it," says tattoo artist George Dobson.

Co-owner Stevenson (right) says artists sometimes bring in art for the museum to use, and sometimes the museum scouts out good art through word-of-mouth.

One of the museum's purposes is to display what good quality tattoo art should look like, Dobson says.

"There's a lot of new-school type tattoos...out there," he says. Much of it isn't up to the museum's standards.
