In the Middle or on the Outs: Pit Bulls in Maryland

AUDIO: Taylor (above) says he'd rather fine or jail irresponsible owners.

Since 1997, 2,400 pit bulls have been euthanized in Prince George's County, Taylor says.
He was part of a committee that this year recommended a repeal of the ban to Prince George's County Executive Wayne Curry. Taylor says enforcement is difficult, and many innocent dogs have suffered. A better solution, he says, would be to pass stricter laws targeting irresponsible owners of all vicious dogs. Curry has taken no action on the pit bull issue, so the ban is still in effect.
