"Colored School" Experiences

Quince Orchard Colored School

 

A year after the community's black school burned down in 1901, Montgomery County moved black students into this one-room Gaithersburg schoolhouse, according to school officials. At the time, it was an abandoned schoolhouse. It had earlier been used by white students.
